About the Artist
Silvia Lerin
Silvia Lerin is a Spanish visual artist based in Luton. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain).
She made several solo exhibitions in Germany, Spain, and the UK, particular highlights were the ones she made in the Sophien-Edition Gallery in Berlin (Germany) and in the Outpost Gallery in Norwich (UK).
During all that time she has received numerous awards and grants, outstanding among others was the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant of New York in 2013 which brought her to the UK and in 2017 she was awarded The Annex Collection Award in the UK.
There exist numerous artworks by her in various public buildings and many private collections worldwide.
Her experience in Public Art
In addition to her professional artistic practice which a selection of curriculum can be found at www.silvialerin.com/cv , she has successfully delivered numerous and varied projects both in the public realm and indoors, working together with studio architects, interior designers, and other organisms. Some examples:
– Commission from ‘AitC’ for a site-responsive installation in Masham. North Yorkshire. UK. 2019. Where she designed, produced, and installed to 10 meters high a large sculpture titled ‘Neons from Heaven’ at St Mary’s Church in Masham, as part of ‘SCULP’, an art trail in North Yorkshire, UK.
– Commission from ‘UTE Gandia Vaseco’ for the access roof of a block of council homes at a building in Gandia, Valencia, Spain. 2012 (This mural was painted with ‘Muresco Silacryl Paint’. Silvia designed, drew it on site, and supervised the contracted building painters to do the paint filling.
– Commission from architect Ana Lozano for 2-level parking mural design in Casino Cirsa in Valencia, Spain. 2010. This long border and elevator cores were designed and drawn in the two-level parking at the ‘Casino Cirsa’ in Valencia. The border design was approx 0.6 x 400 meters. including murals for two lift/stairs central spaces, entrance and transition between the two levels and line for the parking spaces pillars.
– Commission from architect Antonio Such García for vinyl design in High school in ‘El Puig’, Valencia, Spain. 2010. The artist designed and installed a colourful and geometric vinyl border at the large corridor window for visibility and awareness of glass presence.
